Custom Reports For You
This last June Danilo Marques commented on my post “Road to OSDFCon” and said it would be nice to get a custom report as the stock reports in Autopsy were not acceptable to him. After many months I was finally able to fullfill Danilo’s request and provide him with the custom report that he was looking for. The report is an html report that has a few GUI options that you can customize. There are three (3) areas of the GUI options, the first is how many file objects do you want on each page, the second is information that will show up on the report and the third option is what tags you want to appear on the report. The GUI panel is shown below.
Once you select your options then clink on the finish button and the report will be run. Once it is run then you can close the report window. You can now view your report using the report content.
Once you click on this you will see a list of available reports to open and view. This shows you where the report resides and will open it up in a web browser when you click on it.
After you double click and open the report in the web browser you will see the following.
Here you can see the case information that you typed into the GUI controls on the reports panel. You can double click on the tags on the left hand side of the report. This will open up the details page.
This shows you what the detail is that will be reported. At the bottom of each page there is a next and previous links so that if there are multiple pages you can navigate to them.
This report can be updated/added to fairly easily if you want to. More metadata could be added or removed. If the file is a JPG or PNG then it will show a picture of that file. I have uploaded the report to a new repository that I made that will be used to hold custom Autopsy Modules for people so you can get it from there if you would like the modify it, it can be found here.
